| MEETING PLACE |
|
| We meet fortnightly on Thursday evenings between 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m., at the Burslem Day Care Centre in Baddeley Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. Twenty-one gatherings are held per year between January and December. | |
| MEMBERSHIP | ||
| We have a membership of 80 made up of physically disabled and non-disabled people between the ages of 18 and 65. | ||
| TRANSPORT |
| |
| We have two mini-buses running around the areas, picking up members for the meetings. The charge is £1 per meeting attended. Members also give lifts to each other and volunteer car drivers are always needed. | ||
| PROGRAM |
|
| Our meetings do not have a set program, so members can enjoy seeing friends, having a cuppa and a chat and doing whatever they like. Club activities include, Wea games, craft sessions, board games and table games are available to pass the time. | |
| NEWSLETTER |
| |
| The Wastepaper Bin is the freewheelers own newsletter. It is published four times per year and distributed free to all the members. Its sixteen pages are packed full of regular features, articles, poems, information, news items, competitions and club topics. | ||
| VOLUNTEERS |
|
|
| Volunteers play a vital role in the FREEWHEELERS and are valued individuals. The FREEWHEELERS would like to enrol more able bodied people so that the activities can be increased. | ||
| REFRESHMENTS |
| |
| We serve refreshments from 7.30 to 9.30 during each meeting. Charges are 20p or 30p per beaker / cup of tea, coffee, drinking chocolate and orange juice. Crisps and Quavers are on sale at 25p and a variety of chocolate bars are also available at 30p. | ||
| FUND RAISING |
|
| As an independent registered charity the FREEWHEELERS relies on donations and voluntary contributions to keep running. A fundraising raffle, tickets 10p, is always held at the FREEWHEELERS meetings. (Prizes are often donated by the members). These raffles help to pay the transport costs and it is very important that people support them. | |
| COMMITTEE |
| The Management Committee is elected from the membership and has three officers; Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and five general members. The committee presently comprises of six disabled and two non-disabled members. |
