Disability Rights Commission

 

The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) opened its doors for business on April 25th 2000.  Now for the first time in Britain, we disabled people have a central organisation that is on our side. 

The DRC will work similarialy to the Equals Opportunities Commission and the Commission for Racial Equality, so that must mean that disabled individuals now have the same Human Rights as women and black people!  Hurray!  

The DRC will provide information, advice and legal representation, but its main aim is to get attitudes changed and to take action against those who discriminate against disabled individuals.  

Isn’t it good to know that at last we have someone who can fight for our corner and slap the heads of those who treat us as second-class citizens?
